Live Aqua Boutique Resort Playa del Carmen
"Sexy Lil Boutique in the Heart of 5th Ave"
To get the obvious out of the way first, if you are a beach person or are bothered by the sound of music/ street noise at night, this hotel is not for you. If you are still on board, then let's get down to it... Pros The rooftop pool: very nice. Sleek, sexy vibe which really seems to be the theme of the hotel. Very chic. Only concern here would be the lack of loungers. Be sure to claim your spot early. The food: Quite tasty. The food reviews were one of the main reasons we decided to stay here and for the most part we were not let down. We preferred Dai (the Asian restaurant) to the lobby menu for dinner, but the menu is big enough at both spots that if you are staying for a week, there are plenty of things to try. The lunch menu at the pool and rooftop bar is great too (get the barbacoa burrito). The sushi was good (try the Texas roll), but was not as impressed as others made it seem. The breakfast was also very good. You can either order off the menu (chilaquiles!) or there are plenty of buffet type options too (or sample a little of both 😉). The rooms: we started in a regular king room but upgraded to the Jacuzzi suite a couple of nights into our stay and it was sooo worth it. The outdoor patio with loungers, the Jacuzzi, the double vanity and double overhead showers were wonderful! All overlooking 5th ave. Very cool. Yes it was noisy at night but you are on vacation, take a nap by the pool tomorrow if it keeps you up at night. The staff: Normally I would say it seems like all inclusive hotels are overstaffed but this one seemed almost the opposite. Get these guys some help! Man they work hard, but there's only so much 1 bartender or 1 pool waiter can do! All staff (housekeeping, front desk, servers, managers, etc) were all very accomodating and did a great job keeping the place clean! Cons: The beach: There isn't one. It's about a 2 block walk to a public beach. Both beach clubs associated with the hotel are a bit chaotic as well. We went down for a day but found the rooftop pool was to be much nicer. Plus we liked being able to order whatever we wanted for food and drink and not have to worry about how much it was going to cost. The gym: It's so tiny! So if you are a workout couple like we are, just know that if anyone else is in the gym when you are you will have to get real friendly! We ended up going for some morning runs down 5th ave which were actually quite fun. The bar: While the rooftop bar is very neat with a great view, it's the only bar. So when it rains, you are screwed. There's literally nowhere to go in the hotel when the weather is bad to stay dry other than your room. Thankfully it only rained a couple days, but still could definitely use a lobby bar! The spa: The massages themselves were really good, but again it's so small! The steam room and sauna were nice but the locker rooms were tiny and a little beat up. Overall this was a great trip. We loved being able to walk out onto 5th ave after dinner every night. Great energy down here. I did have a 24 hour battle with what we are guessing was a little food poisoning from the Thao chicken at Dai, but the food was so good the rest of the time that I can't complain too much (although this was the 1st time I've ever been sick like that on vacation and we go somewhere in Mexico every year). So bottom line is if you are okay with having a view of the ocean from a swanky rooftop bar and enjoy good food and good service, then give Live Aqua a shot!
Room was amazing large space and very clean. Absolutely would stay again, staff were awesome and made you feel very special, food was wonderful and felt that the hotel was great value for money. Looking forward to the next stay.
"!!AWSOME!! Wife’s Birthday Trip"
We had a great stay here! Everyone was very helpful and nice! Food was great! No kids! Off of the beach a couple blocks. Market Street is right out the front door.Payed for the All Exclusive and that’s what it was. 3 places to eat and all we did was tip. All room service food was include and mini bar.I would recommend to my friends!
"A great all-inclusive adults-only hotel!"
If the phone works in our room, I would give a five-star rating. The room is large and the facilities are quite new. The staff is very friendly!!! People there made us very happy! the food is seriously prepared and good! The drinks are really good! The roof top pool side is a perfect place to relax and the view there is great! I suggest you to bring a lot of small bills. We wished we did. The people there are so nice and you just want to appreciate from time to time. The location is perfect! It is on the "fifth avenue" of Playa Del Carmen. The street is busy even at the low season. Free parking is great! Very easy to get into main road. We bought the package at a sale price. So the price is great too.
