"Poor service, strange room layouts and complicated logistics make this a hotel I don't want to come back to"
In general I'm not much of a fan of the new, urban chic establishments. This new addition to Monterrey's hotels is a strange mix of hidden access, very poor service and complicated logistics, in addition to strange room layouts- I had a booking for the Grand Fiesta Americana (a "normal" hotel in Monterrey) but was "upgraded" to a "wellness suite" in the adjacent Live Aqua which belongs to the same owner. At the special check in facility on the 18th floor I had to wait for a long 20 minutes while the single clerk helped another guest. When I finally got my card key and entered the room I was flummoxed by the room layout. The bathroom is an integral part of the bedroom (which means that a hot shower expels steam and moisture into the living part there being no exhaust fan or window to open). The closets are hidden and one needs to discover how to find and open them. No way to hang a pair of slacks because the closet is too short. The television is HUGE but right in front of the bed makes for difficult vision. Mine didn't work and after I called down to have it checked it took over 30 minutes for someone to arrive and discover that the remote's batteries were dead. Another hour later he arrived with a replacement. The room was full of seashells and other bric a brac but no slippers. The shower is part of the bathtub area and after taking a shower the entire floor is slippery and wet. Towels are a fair distance away so if you bring them in to the shower area they get wet. Service at the breakfast dining room (a la carte only) was extremely slow in spite of me being only 1 of three occupied tables. The menu is very limited and the dishes are expensive and quite small. All in all not a place I'd recommend unless you're willing to reach your room in one elevator, descend to an intermediate floor, walk along a corridor to another elevator in order to reach the meeting rooms or ground floor entrance.
"Great business trip"
Third trip to Monterey in las couple of years and have stayed at another hotel. Thought I would try something new. This hotel was fantastic! Sits on the 18-25th floors. Very modern and high end furnishings. The room was terrific and very comfortable. The walk in shower/tub was massive and bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were tremendous and very courteous. Are at the restaurant for breakfast/lunch/ and dinner and each were amazing. The dinner was one of the best presentations I have had in a while and highly recommend. Also had a fantastic massage at the spa. Will be back!
We loved the location, it was right across the street from various modern restaurants, bars and shopping. The hotel food was not great but prices for drinks were reasonable. We had a corner room with a very romantic bathtub. I would stay here again!
"hotel is sweet, service is sour!"
All around terrible service which is a shame since hotel ameneties are nice. When you are charging rates as a 5 star you need to deliver and these guys seems like they were recruited from a holiday inn express.
"Finally a luxury hotel in Monterrey, BUT"
This hotel has the best rooms in Monterrey, I have been to almost all in the San Pedro area, this hotel is new, the rooms are luxurious, the bed super comfortable, the service hotel wise is the best. BUT. 1.The door slamming in the morning starts at 6:30-700 am. The family next door was SCREAMING, from 6:30 -9:00. That tells you either that they have terrible acoustics or they don't care and put a family next door to a couple, instead of putting families with children all in the same floor, so nobody disturbs anybody, but the administration does not look for those details. 2. They made us leave a Carbon copy of our credit card. In less than 24 hours, we had numerous charges made via internet to our credit card. 3. This is the most expensive hotel in Monterrey, and they FORGOT, to do the turn down service, so when I got to the room I had to put down all the black outs (there are many windows, since the hotel has the best views of the city. ) I am paying the BEST hotel in town? 4. The hotel for breakfast is delicious, BUT, there was onlu a table of 4 and us, Friday morning, it took us 50 minutes to be served, but it was a slow, very good breakfast. I think they are not prepared yet. But it is beautiful, modern, confortable.... MIXED FEELINGS. But WIll look for a better one, not staying again. Even if it so luxurious, too many wreawbacks
