Live Aqua Boutique Resort Playa del Carmen
"We did not want to leave!"
We visited Live Aqua Boutique Resort Playa del Carmen at the end of May. It was our first trip in a long time, and a much needed break. In addition, I planned on proposing to my then girlfriend during the trip, so I wanted the occasion to be supremely special. It was everything I could want and more... After booking the trip and air fair through a third party website, I contacted the hotel and asked about special arrangements. I was contacted almost immediately by Fernando, who would be the concierge during our stay. I told him that I had planned an excursion during the day, during which I would 'pop the question'. Fernando suggested he would arrange a special private dinner on the rooftop terrace with special decorations, a special menu and flowers... I accepted his offer and did not have to think of it from that point on, he handled everything! Upon arriving at the hotel, I was pleased with the location... right in the heart of Playa. We were immediately met by staff, and made to feel welcome, and at home. I have to tell you, as nice as the accomidations are, the staff is what makes this place heads and tails above the rest! We were checked in by Eddie, and taken to our room by Israel. The room was spacious, and well appointed, with a large stand up shower and a couch to loung on. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept on. After getting settled we explored the hotel a bit. It's not on the beach, but the rooftop pool better, in my opinion. The one day we walked down to the beach, it was crowded, with tons of seaweed, and a smell. Suffice it to say, we did most of our lounging on the roof top. The service on the rooftop was amazing, and we were taken care of very well, mostly by Berenice, who we will never forget. Epi, Hugo, and capitan Juan, were also standouts among the service staff. The day I proposed, we returned from our excursion to Ek-Balam, where I proposed atop the large pyramid (she said yes). I had made an appointment for my new fiancé at the spa, which she thouroughly enjoyed. Then we made our way to the roof top where all of the arrangements had been set in place. The executive chef greeted us and explained the special 5 course 'romance' menu. Everything was beautiful and delicious. I could not have asked for a more special dinner for our occasion! After finishing dinner we retired to our accomidations, as it had been a long day. We were surprised and delighted to see a special surprise decoration left for us. They certainly went out of their way to make us feel special. On top of the special meal, the food at the hotel is very good, especially for an 'all inclusive'. The sushi and tapas made for fantastic 'grazing' during the all day lounge sessions poolside. And I have to admit, we at chilaquiles every morning for breakfast. The small size of the hotel (60 rooms) we got to know some amazing people during our 9 day stay. From a newlywed couple from Puebla, to twins who we adventured with, a fun young French couple... and so many more. It was just a fun filled trip. It is worth repeating that as amazing as the accomidations and food are, the staff really is what makes this place great. From the front desk and bell staff: Victor, who I remain in contact with; Eddie who I hope finally got his tattoo; Laura who is hoping to be a concierge, Salvador who gave us a nice gift prior to leaving; Israel who plays drums for a local band when not working at the resort, and probably more that I am forgetting. The service and wait staff were all so attentive and amazing. Teodoro, who would chat with us during breakfast (and looks just like Bobby Flay), Hugo, Epi, Juan, and most of all Berenice. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my family or friends. Do yourself a favor and stay here!
We had a great time, it was quieter than the usual places we stay in Cancun, which is exactly what we expected. The staff was very helpful and nice and the pool on the 4th floor was terrific, but in my opinion the best thing was the food. They have a sushi bar by the pool that is wonderful, the only thing I was a little disappointed in was the internet and phones. The in room phones did not work and the wifi was spotty in the rooms, my cell didn't work either, but that might be my fault I didn't notify Verizon first.I learned my lesson on that the hard way.
"All Inclusive Live Aqua at Playa Del Carmen"
Great location - staff was extremely courteous and service oriented! We were able to snag an all inclusive deal at an amazing rate, so we couldn't say no! The noise was not an issue, but we were also staying on the quiet side - which we got that tip from other tripadvisor reviews! Food was okay, not great, but it was all inclusive, so if you just wanted to grab a quick bite before an excursion, it is super convenient! I would also recommend checking out chez celine a block down from the resort - amazing food! The resort also has deals with the two main beach clubs, but if you are anything like us and just want to relax, sunbathe and lounge without party music blaring in your ear(at the beach), the rooftop pool and poolside drinks/food hit the spot!
Listen, if you're having doubts or need further convincing, come to this hotel. The food alone will be worth the visit. Omg the food was the highlight of my trip, forget everything else. Most hotels will give you bland or tasteless food. Not here. The food is delicious. Sushi, international cuisines, breakfast and late night menus. Delicioso! Listen, come here, you will not regret it. Im coming back for the food, proximity to the beach (A short walk), and the drinks. Edgar is the best bartender. Look for him. He is well versed in the art of drinking and debauchery.
"Great location and staff"
If you are looking for an all inclusive that isn't hidden away then Live Aqua is a great choice. Its location right on the 5th (main street) with markets and lots of food choices, and its also walking distance to lots of night life and clubs. The bar and pool staff are super friendly. Bartender EDGAR was awesome. Knew my drink from the 1st order and all we had to do was exchange looks and he would remember what I wanted. Food was also good but a couple more restaurant choices would have been better. But overall a great trip!
